In a recent business move, the worlds second largest communications conglomerate Omnicom began taking steps to acquire one of the last Brazilian advertising companies left standing. ABC group and Omnicon sealed a deal that parties involved feel could possibly save the struggling advertisement firm. With the help of Omnicon, ABC plans to become one of the largest and most successful advertising companies worldwide. Omnicon has several partnerships with top companies, and has shares listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
ABC was founded in 2002 when Nizan Guanaes and his partner Joao Augusto (Guga) Valente decided that Brazil needed its own successful advertising group. The group currently services more than 10 companies, providing assistance in both advertising and public relations. ABC Group also owns several companies worldwide, and is responsible for overseeing the advertising and marketing strategies for companies such as Procter & Gamble and Ambev.
Nizan Guanaes is a well known and very successful Brazilian advertising executive. He was born in Salvador, Bahia in 1958. After graduating from Universidade Federal da Bahia with his Business Administration degree he began working as a copywriter in Salvador. After gaining experience in the professional world as a successful advertiser and skilled copywriter, he was able to establish his name and reputation, He quickly became a commodity in the world of advertisement and in 1968, he was presented with the Gold Lion Award at Canes Festival, for his one of a kind television advertisement titled “Hitler”. The Folha de S.Paulo newspaper named Guanaes advertisement as one of the top 100 of all time.
Aside from his achievements and expertise as an advertiser, Guanaes launched internet portal IG in 2000 and quickly grew it to one of the largest free internet platforms in his hometown of Salvador, and all over brazil.
